小行星相撞,地球恐龍毀滅
路透華盛頓 電---科學家們周三稱，1億6千萬年前，繞行在火星與木星之間的兩顆小行星 相撞後，產生許多巨大的石塊朝地球飛來，包括造成恐龍滅絕的那一顆隕石。
這項研究有助於解釋地球生命史上的一個重要事件--6,500萬年前，天外飛來一顆寬10公里的隕石，撞上了墨西哥的尤卡坦(Yucatan)半島。
科學家認為那次隕石撞擊引發地球環境巨變，大量塵埃瀰漫天空中，大海嘯、森林野火等，讓地球陷入黑暗中很多年。在地球上稱霸1億6500萬年的恐龍也因此滅絕。
**小相撞,大滅絕**
科羅拉多州博爾德西南研究所一名研究人員波特克(William Bottke)在本周出版的《自然》期刊中指稱，距離地球1億8千萬公里處，有一個繞行太陽的小行星帶，行星帶中滿是大小不一的石塊。
某一天，石塊發生了碰撞。有些被撞碎的殘骸飛出了行星帶，朝太陽系 內飛去，撞上了地球和月球，也許還撞到火星和金星。
波特克認為，當時行星相撞後的殘骸，至今都還存在，有些接近地球的小行星，仍可追溯至那次的碰撞。
